About the Artist
Born in South Korea (1996), raised in the Philippines, and now based in the UK, Sophia Rosenthal’s practice is shaped by her multicultural upbringing. She explores themes of loss, longing, and fragmented recollections tied to migration. Drawing inspiration from post-impressionism, photography, and New Figuration painters, Sophia transforms personal photographs into experimental compositions using resist techniques, layered textures, and vivid color, reflecting memory as a continuously unfolding set of impressions.
