Mellor - Originals and Prints at Camden Open Air Gallery

Mellor is a contemporary artist who creates bright and bold surreal imagery. Inspired by vintage animation and cartoons, but gives it a modern twist. Anthropomorphism is a large part of her signature work. Creating vibrant characters from animals and depicting them in a satirical manner. They are caricatures of people you may see in your everyday life. The jobsworth, the rat race and even the lost soul. Chasing happiness and fulfilment. Whilst she uses a colour palette with animals that on face value are beautiful,  underneath there is a nightmarish element. Leaving the audience with a dreamlike atmosphere that can be unsettling. Think of the work as a single snapshot into the lives of these characters.
